SANA’A, Dec.26 (Saba) – The Specialized Penal Court in the capital Sana’a sentenced on Saturday an Iranian national to death and two others to 5 years in prison after convicting them of trafficking and fetching drugs into Yemen.
During Saturday hearing, chaired by Judge Ridwan al-Namer, the court sentenced the first convict, Mumtaz Sultan Ameri to death and the two others, Imam Jan Dost Mohamed and Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Ishaq Bloshi, to 5-year imprisonment.
However, the court cleared eight Iranians of charges relating to bringing 1059 kg of drugs into Yemen from an Iranian port by a boat.
The court’s verdict stipulated destructing the seized drugs and confiscating the boat.
The boat (Bahzad) with the drugs was seized by the security services off Hadramout coasts in December, 2008.
